On
behalf of the Board of Directors, Staff, and Residents,
welcome to the Veterans Transition House website! We at the
Veterans Transition House, offer a Hand Up and not a Hand
Out….
The S. E. Mass. Veterans Housing Program, Inc. was
established to provide hope in a safe, sober, supportive
residence for homeless Veterans, and to assist those who
desire to achieve rehabilitation, self-sufficiency, and
reintegration into the community.
The S. E. Mass. Veterans Housing Program, Inc. is a private,
nonprofit 501 ©(3) corporation known as the Veterans
Transition House (VTH). The VTH was founded by a group of
local Vietnam-Era Veterans and community leaders. They
recognized a need to develop and provide sober, safe,
affordable housing to homeless, at risk, Veterans of the
Armed Forces.
S. E. Mass. Veterans Housing Program, Inc. consists of
several programs geared principally in assisting Veterans in
need. These include the original VTH program, The VTH
Graduate Program (3 locations), The Women Veterans
Transition House (WVTH) and Network House.
The VTH program consists of forty-five (45) beds for male
Veterans. The VTH Graduate Program has seventeen (17) units
of supportive housing. The WVTH program will have ten (10)
beds exclusively for female Veterans. In collaboration with
the City of New Bedford, the Network House provides
transitional supportive services to ten (10) male civilians
affected by the disease of addiction.
While we do rely heavily on Federal, State and Local grant
funding, it isn’t enough to maintain the high quality of
programs. Your generous donations will help us to maintain
our high standards and to increase our services to veterans.
In the future we intend to explore the possibility of
establishing a new facility which will provide permanent
housing for our deserving veterans.
We at the Veterans Transition House, offer a Hand Up and not
a Hand Out…. Call us if you know a Veteran who needs a hand,
or, if you are able to give us a hand in supporting the
Veterans of Southeastern Massachusetts. |
