Mission
The S. E. Mass. Veterans Housing Program, Inc. was established to provide hope for homeless veterans in a safe, sober, supportive residence and to assist those who desire to achieve rehabilitation, self-sufficiency, and community reintegration.
Veterans Involvement
"It is one of the beautiful compensations of life,
that no man can sincerely help another
without helping himself."
–Ralph Waldo Emerson
VTH has been fortunate to be able to serve veterans in the South Coast area through the support of our community. In turn, we look for ways to involve our residents with organizations and events that will benefit the community. Recent connections include:
Operation Clean Sweep
VTH partners with Operation Clean Sweep every year to provide the community with a clean and healthy environment. This organization organizes a series of cleanups throughout the city of New Bedford from April through September. If you are interested in volunteering for this or other cleanups please go to their website by click their logo to RSVP. The Veterans Transition House (VTH) helps homeless and at-risk veterans and their families in the Massachusetts South Coast area. We provide shelter and services, with a special focus on healing from substance abuse and learning new life skills.
Southeastern Massachusetts Time Exchange
VTH recently joined the Southeastern Massachusetts Time Exchange, an effort that allows area individuals and organizations to exchange services and skills. When one Time Exchange member performs an hour of a service for another, they receive credit for that hour, called a 'Time Credit'. That member can then use the Time Credit to receive a service from another member within the system. Click their logo to visit their website and learn more.
